Review of Garni Hotel Rute in Kranjska Gora Slovenia

We were incredibly lucky to find such a great hotel in such a beautiful location during the busiest week of the year – European Biker Week. Opened in August 2011, the Garni Hotel Rute is located in the little and picturesque village of Gozd Martuljek, 5 km east of Kranjska Gora and just a short ride away from the beautiful Lake Faak Am See where the main Biker Week events are held.

We rode all the way to Slovenia from Prague, Czech Republic especially for this event, having only decided two weeks prior to go. With over 100,000 visitors in this period we were very fortunate to find such an accommodating hotel such as Garni Hotel Rute. It is sat in a very quiet location among the mountains and farmlands on the border of Austria.

We loved that Garni Hotel Rute was biker friendly, with plenty of onsite parking available for its guests. I am sure this place is beautiful during the summer when the outdoor dining area can be used as well as the table tennis and barbecue facilities. However, I am also sure this place is outstanding in the winter and a great location for those who enjoy skiing. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area as well as plenty of places to hike and bike ride.

Rooms are large enough for two people, with a comfortable bed, satellite television,  large bathroom with a shower and good water pressure. There was a slight smell of damp at times due to lack of ventilation. (Room 12)

The reception wasn’t always available and out of hours required phoning the lady and waiting for her to appear. Breakfast was ok although it could have done with more hot options. There is also free-in room WiFi available as well.

Garni Hotel Rute Slovenia

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an Eco-friendly hotel in Slovenia that is bike & family friendly and great for hiking and skiing. We will be returning next year for sure!

TOP TIP: There is an autostrada route that has a toll fee of 11 Euros (on the sat nav it was the quickest route to the hotel) turn toll roads off on your sat nav and enjoy the picturesque, curvy route through the mountains for some great views of the surrounding mountains and lakes! You won’t be disappointed!
