Prague is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful cities in Central Europe, with an abundance of breath-taking views. So experience the splendour of Prague’s sunsets and the majestic vistas of the Vltava river from my hand-picked (and personally tried) selection of Prague’s Restaurants With A View.

U Prince Hotel Rooftop Bar – Prague Old Town Square

Situated in the heart of the Old Town Square, this intimate rooftop bar and restaurant is the ideal place for a sun downer. With views over the main square, Tyn Church, the Astronomical Clock and vistas over to Prague’s castle, this is a hot spot during the summer for evening cocktails and romantic dinners. As part of a five star hotel, the menu is on the pricey side and due to its small rooftop location it does get extremely busy. Reservations are a must and beware of the Instagrammers who frequently take over this small spot.

Hilton Cloud 9 Bar Prague

Cloud 9 Sky Bar – Hilton Hotel

Chic and stylish, Cloud 9 Sky Bar was the first of its kind in Prague and it is located on the top floor of the Hilton Hotel with views over the Vltava and river banks. It hosts an elegant interior bar as well as a large outdoor terrace which provides a peaceful and laid back haven during the summer with a killer cocktail menu. In the evening the bar transforms into a lively music bar boasting vivid lighting, a range of intimate and group seating areas and live music.

Villa Richter

Located in the Prague Castle area, Villa Richter is one of the top restaurants in Prague. This restored vineyard and villa boasts beautiful panoramic views over the city and legend has it that it is the oldest vineyard in Bohemia. Its outdoor Panorama Pergola (see the picture above) is a favourite brunch and aperitif spot for locals and tourists during the summer. Its main restaurant is located in the main villa building. It serves reasonably priced seasonal dishes but its location and selection of wines are what gives it the wow factor. It is also the place we held our wedding reception so this place holds a special place in our hearts!

Zizkov TV Tower – Oblaca Restaurant, Bistro And Bar In The Sky

Sat 66 meters above ground this sky high restaurant and bar is situated in the trendy bohemian neighbourhood of Zizkov, just a short distance from the Old Town city centre. Offering international and modern cuisine, it is by far one of the best restaurant in Prague for city views. Its bar with its timeless design is an ideal place for rendezvous or meetings over a cup of excellent coffee during the day, but it is also the perfect place to visit with friends for a cocktail and listen to great music in the evenings.

Marina Restaurant

Although this restaurant isn’t located up high, it does have one of the best views of the Vltava River, Prague Castle and Charles Bridge. It has been a favourite restaurant of ours since we moved to Prague in 2011 (when it was called Grosetto Marina Prague) and we often take relatives here as the food is good and the price is very reasonable considering its on the tourist route.

During the summer when the roof is pulled back and the terrace is open it is a beautiful spot to watch the sunset behind Petrin Hill and watch the boats pass by. It offers international cuisine with a heavy Italian feel and amazing pizzas. Reservation here is a must if you want to get a perfect window seat with a view!

Ideal for a spot of lunch or evening dinner, Kampa Park is one of the most expensive restaurants in the city with an international menu and a wide wine list. Although it is a spectacular place during the summer it also has plentiful space inside and a winter garden with heated conservatory overlooking the river.

Mlynec Restaurant Prague

Mlynec Restaurant

Experience Charles Bridge up close while dining outside on Mlynec’s riverside terrace. This perfectly located restaurant is a gastronomic spectacular of Czech cuisine. Its large picture windows means the views can be enjoyed even on rainy days while its outdoor terrace is a fantastic spot to watch the buzz of Charles Bridge while devouring one of the menu’s tasty delights.

Ginger & Fred

Featuring great views over the Vltava River to Prague Castle, the Ginger & Fred Restaurant can be found inside the Dancing House, just a 15 minute walk from the Old Town.

This famous Prague monument has its own 4 star restaurant and outdoor terrace. Although it offers limited views from inside the restaurant (make sure you book a window seat for views), you can enjoy them from its terrace and its 360 degree panoramic gallery. Although the menu is on the pricey side it has many great reviews and its a great spot for tourists who want to tick dining in the “dancing” house off their list!

Strahov Monastery Restaurant Bellevista Prague

Bellavista Prague

As the name suggests, the Bellavista Restaurant has one of the best panoramic views of Prague. Located next to the Strahov Monastery, this restaurant is best visited in the warmer months of the year when you can sit outside and enjoy a cold beer and a traditional Czech dish, although if you happen to pass in the winter, there is an indoor dining restaurant also.

This spot is popular not just amongst tourists who visit the famous library in the Strahov Monastery, but many locals also dine here to enjoy the panoramic view of Prague. Its romantic spot above the vineyards is why it is so popular with couples and during the summer you should check in advance if it is open as they often hold weddings.

Address: Strahovské nádvoří 132/1, 118 00 Praha-Hradčany

Located on top of the Kotva Shopping Centre in the heart of Prague’s Old Town, the T-Anker restaurant is one of my summer favourites! The beauty of this rooftop restaurant is that it is not obvious to passing tourists and it has one of the largest outdoor terraces in Prague. If you visit from 1130-1:30 pm on weekdays during the summer you’ll struggle to find a table as many locals come here to eat lunch.

T-Anker serves traditional Czech cuisine and they frequently change their beer menu as well as stocking over 60 different types of beer from all over the world. It is definitely a summer spot (although the picture was taken after the summer), although shade is often limited. Families are welcome and there is an elevator to the top.

Nice list Samantha. I always like a place with a view and we spent our 3 months in Prague climbing all the towers and some of the bars/restaurants. You have some great ones, we really like the views from the Dancing House (they have an outdoor section with fabulous views).
The only one we didn’t appreciate was the bar at the Zizkov TV tower. It was expensive and with the double panned glass was really hard to take a decent photo or get good views.
We’ll be back for a week in early April and will try out some of the others on your list.

Thanks for the comment Frank. I really liked the view from the Zizkov Tower during the day and I thought the food was great but you are right about the glass. It is sometimes better to just enjoy the view while eating dinner and head up the tower’s viewing platform separately for pictures 🙂 Hope you have a great time on your return 🙂 I am sure Prague misses you!

Very cool list. I especially like the rooftop places, which I’ll check out for sure, if I’ll ever visit Prague. Thanks for the recommendations!

I was just recently in Prague, and I really wish that I had this post for reference! I scrambled all around the city looking for a good place to eat and mostly ended up in little mom and pop restaurants. Thanks for sharing, I will keep this list for reference for the next time I make it out there 🙂

We were in Prague last October for a few days and fell in the love with this fairytale city. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t conducive to rooftop decks but now I want to return even more just to check some of these out.

  5. Megsy says:

Wow what a great list – they’re all so funky. We haven’t made it to Prague yet, but I have my fingers crossed we make it there this year. We will have to try out a few of these places for sure!

Prague is very beautiful city, but those views are unbelievable. Very beautiful pictures, as if somebody has just painted all the buildings, trees, and sky.

  8. Jane says:

The list is great! I would add Sheraton Prague and their rooftop terrace – just got back from there and the view is fabulous!

    • The Wandering Wanderlusters says:

Some of them I would recommend still in the winter…Hilton Sky Bar is open all year round (it has big windows so you can still enjoy the view from inside in the warm!) as with the Dancing House and Grosetto Marina (now just called Marina I think)? 🙂 The others are weather dependent. Hope that helps!
