Frequently Asked Questions

What made you become a travel blogger?

I have always had a passion for travel ever since I was a child. I looked forward to our annual family holiday more than I looked forward to Christmas, even if it was just camping in the West Counties of England (in the rain)!. I guess you could say I fell into a career of travel. I visited a career adviser when I finished school who put me in touch with a local travel agents who eventually gave me my first travel job. From then I have been travelling…infact every penny I have earnt has been spent on travel. When I relocated to the Czech Republic I found it incredibly hard to find an English speaking travel role, so I decided to start a blog and become a full time travel blogger. Anyone can set up a blog its very easy! But it takes time, perseverance and a lot of tears to do it professionally and you learn something new every day.

Who funds your travels?

Since moving to the Czech Republic I have essentially been unemployed however my background in marketing has allowed me to gain a few steady freelance writing jobs that pay for my trips. I also have an amazing partner who also funds our larger trips. I always choose the destination and present him with a budget excel sheet of costs. I hope one day that my writing and blog will further aid my travels through funding but it takes a lot of hard work to get there.

Who do you travel with?

Most of the time (90%) I travel with my partner however occasionally especially for work trips or visits home I travel alone. I took my first real solo trip (away from home) in 2012 to Croatia on a work trip sailing around the islands in Croatia.
