When I returned back from my road trip to Germany, Austria and Slovenia on Sunday I was quite literally jumping for joy that I had made the final 100 bloggers in the Big Blog Exchange for 2014. It has been a pretty tough journey over the past month trying to get as many votes in as possible to get into the top 25 for the Europe category and with so many fantastic bloggers signing up this year, I can tell you, it was no easy job.
I literally spent hours and hours bothering my nearest and dearest to vote for me, asking to share my link etc…and I even spent one evening sending a message to everyone was unfortunate to appear online on my Facebook chat list. I am sure I got on a lot of people’s nerves over the past month, especially my boyfriend who has had to hear about this competition endlessly over the past few weeks and who I am sure is so glad I made it to the top 100….mostly because he doesn’t have to hear me in despair about how many votes I have….Yes I will admit I had many a sleepless night about how to get more votes in mostly because I was so desperate to win. Last year I missed out on the competition since I didn’t have a working blog up and running…so I was even more determined to enter this year.
I am so grateful to all my friends and family who helped me get to the final round of this amazing competition….your votes and the time you spent sharing my link and bugging your own friends for votes really means a lot because you know how much winning this opportunity would mean to me.
I also want to thank my lovely followers and fellow bloggers, all of your votes got me to 17th place in Europe! And I am eternally grateful! If anything and regardless of winning or not winning I am so glad to of met some fantastic people through this competition, made some new friends and discovered a whole heap of new blogs to read and inspire me.
And lastly I would like to thank those mysterious twitter voters who voted for me and took time out of their busy lives to click my link. In the last week of voting I promised to make a $1 donation for every vote I received from the link…since I only received 5 votes (which I am so thankful for) I made a small donation of £10 instead to WaterAid, a charity I have been supporting since I was in high school and one I feel is incredibly worthy of any donation big or small.
So what happens now? Well in 6 days time the big deciders (gods to me since they choose my fate) will pick 14 lucky bloggers from the top 100 to swap lives with each other and swap blogs as well as 2 additional places for two wildcard winners whos place is won by content and not through votes. I can tell you, the last few days have really dragged and I can’t wait to find out who the lucky 16 will be. I of course have all my fingers and toes crossed to win but if I don’t it has been an amazing rollercoaster ride….and there is always next year!
Good luck everyone! 6 days to go!!!!!
