Welcome to this week’s Bucket List Wednesday – a feature where I ask a fellow travellers about their Bucket List. If you would like to take part please get in touch – email@example.com or @A_wanderluster – I would love to for you to get involved!
This weeks traveller is Will from Going Awesome Places. Will caught the travel bug quite early. He started travelling started in 2006 when he had the opportunity of a lifetime to go on exchange during undergrad to Lund, Sweden. From there he was able to backpack all over Europe and get a first taste of life outside the comforts of home. The travel bug never quite left and he continued to explore the world bit by bit.
In 2012, Will left his consulting job to pursue a dream of going on an extended adventure dubbed Epic 2012and ended up travelling all around Asia for 4 months. Travel blogging was always something he wanted to do and so prior to leaving he founded Going Awesome Places. Since then Will has continued to travel the world, big strides at a time while maintaining a home base in the beautiful Toronto, Canada.
So Will how many things do you have on your Bucket List?
As with all of us, there is so many on the list. Some are crazier than others but it’s all about putting action to words and making it happen. Some of my wilder ones include:
- Skydiving (because I’m terrified of heights and turn into a big blog of jello)
- Explore ice caves in Iceland
- Go heli-snowboarding
- Be part of Running of the Bulls
Skydiving! Your’re very brave! What is at the top of your Bucket List?
For years, the biggest item on my bucket list to climb and conquer Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Its an ambition of mine too! What made you choose Mt Kilimanjaro?
Never having traveled to Africa and seen countries like Tanzania is one thing but honestly for me, this item on my bucket list transcends travel and is one more about overcoming a challenge.
Sounds like you have your challenge set! Best start practicing your Swahili! Do you have any languages you would like to learn?
I’m Chinese and my Mandarin is awful. I really need to get better at it. If it’s a brand new language, I’d love to be able to learn Spanish just because I love Spain so much!
Spanish is a great language to learn as you can use it in so many other countries! What people you would like to meet (perhaps have lunch with)?
I’m at awe with what some of the world class travel bloggers are doing and how they’ve been able to transform their lives. I would love to meet guys like Matt Kepnes or Matt Long who have carved the way for guys like me!
Yes! They are an inspiration to us all! What things have you seen other people do or accomplish and you thought, “Wow, that’s pretty cool! I’d love to do that!”?
I think the one thing that I wish I could do but never had the opportunity/guts/time to do is literally take off and travel for a full year. I really admire all the travel bloggers that have been on the road for what feels like “forever”. To be able to travel at a much slower pace, get to live like a local, befriend locals, A local blogger from the Toronto Travel Massive community, Megan of Nomadic Meg is doing just that with her plan to spend a year in New Zealand and then teach English in Georgia. I tip my hat off to anyone that is able to pull something like that off!
And lastly how many things on your Bucket List have you achieved so far?
I’ve been able to accomplish quite a few things from my bucket list. I never physically wrote a full list down so I couldn’t give you analytics on how many out of the full list I’ve completed (I really should right?) but these are a few of the highlights so far.
