Welcome Anna to Bucket List Wednesday’s. Let’s start – How many things do you have on your Bucket List?
I’d have to say that my list is never ending because I keep adding to it as time goes by. My list from 10 years ago is now totally crossed off. When I was younger I didn’t know my limits or how far I could go. I wanted to visit the pyramids of Giza, see all the most important museums (because of my passion for history and art), study abroad, and check out an African safari. As a result, there are a lot of things that I added much later, some of which I didn’t even know existed before, like riding ostriches. What was the most exciting? I guess taking care of lions by taking them for walks, or maybe swimming with great white sharks and crocodiles.
Taking care of lions?! Sounds like a great experience! One I am definitely jealous of! What is currently at the top of your large Bucket List?
Currently on the top of my list is a visit to Antarctica, but I’m pretty sure it’s not going to be the first thing to tick off my list. It might sound like I’m looking for trouble, but I love to go to less touristic destinations that most consider dangerous, such as Sierra Leone, Sudan, or Eritrea. Also, skydiving is placed very high on my list along with crossing El Camino del Rey in Spain.
You are similar to me! I love visiting places tourists avoid or are less visited….Sierra Leone is one of those places as well as Afghanistan and Israel. Tell me what made you choose Antarctica as top of your list?
A lot of people don’t understand why I want to go to Antarctica. Many say that it’s just a pile of ice with no attractions at all, but I still want to go there and believe I’m going to have a great time, especially because I’ll get to see one of my favorite animals – penguins, in their natural environment. Why skydiving? I went bungee jumping in 2012 and I have to say that it was probably the scariest thing I’ve ever done. I somehow think skydiving would be less scary, but I have to try it to judge it. I guess I must love scary activities, since El Camino del Rey, the scariest
mountain crossing, also ended up as one of my top things to do.
Are there any languages you want to learn? Maybe Spanish will come in handy? 🙂
I definitely want to learn more languages, but with my lack of time I can’t even practice those I actually speak. Anyway, I’d love to learn Arabic and Amharic.
What people you would like to meet (perhaps have lunch with)?
I have a long list of people from the past whom I’d love to meet, I guess this is a common problem when you’re a historian 😉 I guess if I have to choose people that are currently alive, It’d be great to meet some of the most influential movie directors. No specifics here though.
What things have you seen other people do or accomplish and you thought, “Wow, that’s pretty cool! I’d love to do that!”?
Definitely working with penguins, most likely back in South Africa! I’ve always wanted to have a pet penguin, as a kid I was trying to convince my parents to keep one in the fridge. Therefore when I saw a fellow blogger working at a penguin conservation project, it immediately jumped to the top of my bucket list!
Penguins are one of my favorite animals and I’d love to do something with them too! Finally how many things on your Bucket List have you achieved so far?
Funnily enough I have achieved most of them, many of which I never thought I would be able to. However, this doesn’t mean that I’m going to stop ticking things off my list. I guess that I have achieved something like 50 things out of my top 100.
That is a pretty good achievement! I think its almost impossible to fully complete a life’s amount of Bucket List items since as you said you constantly add to it! 🙂 Fab answers this week! Thank you for participating…its been great learning all about your Bucket List! 🙂
